The Spread Eagle is a Grade II Listed building first recorded as
a pub in 1877 that’s tucked away to the north of
Abingdon town center.
We take pride in providing traditional pub values combined with excellent, good value food all day.
Recently we have installed Pods in our Pub Garden, and our guest can freely utelize them.
Guests can also pre-book a pod for a meal, or group gatherings.

1991 was the start of the Crawford Family in Abingdon, taking over the Greene King flagship pub The Boundary House.
For nearly 5 years it traded as the number one house for the brewery. Our son was born in 1993 so it was time to move on and spend time as a family. Three years later we had our daughter Paige whilst also running pubs in  Surrey and Nottingham. We then progressed to a 34 bedroom hotel and pub restaurant in Gloucester
In April 2002 we came back to the Boundary House for a second term and Found out that the Spread Eagle was available to the right Licensee,s. We had wanted the Spread Eagle in the early 90,s but we’re unable to buy it due to a clause in our contract. In 2007 the clause was no more so we purchased the business and have never looked back. 10 days after we moved in the non smoking ban hit and then a month later the storms caused Abingdon to be flooded.
14 Years later we still run the Spread Eagle as a family run business with our 11 staff , son and daughter .

We hope you enjoy your visit
